Feng Shui

Feng Shui is the art of manipulating the environment so that positive energy can be generated from it. The art of Feng Shui originates in China based on a theory that people are affected by their environment. Feng Shui is a series of rules for how the furniture in the home should be placed in home that will open up the energy flow also known as Chi.

The first step in setting up a Feng Shui friendly environment is to take a Bagua (pronounced Bog-wa) Map of the home. The Bagua represents the 8 building blocks of life which are love/marriage, health/family, career, wisdom/knowledge, children/creativity, wealth/prosperity, reputation/fame, helpful people/travel and the center which is the owners Chi. There are specific Bagua maps available online that will give the placement of where these building blocks need to be.

The Bagua map then is placed on top of the map of the home or room. Chi is always at the center. It represents the accumulation of everything on the Bagua map, which is the energy that the owner will have as a result of their home design. These blocks on the Bagua are going to give an idea of the areas in the home and how they pertain to certain energy. For example the wealth area is always at the front entrance of the home. If wealth needs to be enhanced it is best to place items that represent what wealth is in this area.

Colour plays a major role in Feng Shui. Each Bagua has a colour that is associated with it. These colours too can be used to enhance different aspects of life and assist with the flow of energy. For example the corresponding colours to love and marriage are pink, red and white. If that area needs to be enhanced placing a picture of the spouses in a frame of one of those colours in that area would work wonderfully. The Bagua table can be laid to the whole house or just to certain rooms making it available on either a small scale or a large scale.

Feng Shui can seem to be overwhelming. However, by breaking it down and looking at it in bits and pieces will help make it more practical and easier to use in the home. Those who use Feng Shui testify to the positive results that they have seen in their life from the use of this system.
